Eco parks
I took over as Commissioner Horticulture and Plantation Crops, on 28.12.2011. My immediate predecessor was there for about 7 months and before that was Dr.Chandramohan IAS. In the first month, I learned that about 10 proposals for creation of eco parks in 7 locations at a cost of Rs.32.00 crores envisioned by Dr.Chandramohan in the previous Government was yet to take off, despite the fact that Government Orders were in place, designs were completed, tender formalities were completed and even work order was given! …and then Government had changed!
I immediately met with the contractors; they pleaded with me not to proceed with the works as they anticipated financial loss if they were asked to proceed. It took a lot of persuasion, cajoling and motivation for the contractors to ultimately take up the works and complete them in record time. These are huge eco parks. The Hon’ble Chief Minister inaugurated the parks on 15.10.2012.
